Yew Trees Warblington Church Yard

The yew trees at Warblington church yard, are as ancient as the church itself

The church of Thomas a Becket, with its vestiges of Anglo Saxon architecture, has a very lovely setting down on the south coast of Hampshire. One of Hampshire History’s most interesting ruins, that of Warblington Castle sits just to the north of it.

The yew trees are twisted, trunk upon trunk, with a girth suggesting a great age, were they just saplings when the Anglo Saxons began to worship here or are they part of something even older?
