Saxons in the Meon Valley

The Saxons in the Meon Valley Project is a fantastic heritage lottery funded community history project.

Many of the heritage lottery funded projects seem to fizzle out, leaving behind the remnants of a good idea but the ‘Saxons in the Meon Valley’ project just seems to go from strength to strength. With support from all the local history groups along the Meon Valley as well as the Friends of Corhampton church and many others, the project is putting the Saxon back into the valley.

They are keen to engage with local children and their re-enactments bring the past to life for them.

Serious archaeology is being undertaken, with the added boost of the involvement of former Time Team presenter, Carenza Lewis.

Their latest undertaking is the making of an aerial film of the Meon Valley, a piece of work in progress and fascinating to see.
